Based on its performance and the data published in the forums, I will be replacing my old iMac with a Studio (probably with the 64-core M1 Ultra) in a few months. You may save a few bucks by buying a 32GB/2TB model if the budget is tight and you don't have more than an X-Plane window open and that's enough storage space. The display is what you would expect from Apple, just fantastic. No heat issues whatsoever, I don't think it has a fan. I typically have X-Plane and a few more windows open for development at the same time. It is my X-Plane development machine while I travel. It runs X-Plane about twice as fast as my i7 iMac. To say that I am happy with my 16" 32-core-GPU M1Max MacBookPro would be an understatement. I guess it cools much better and doesn't have to throttle for heat.Ĭurious if anyone has any experience with this? I'm thinking of getting a M1 Max 32 core GPU, 64gb Ram, and either 2 TB or 4 TB, but man, these things are pricey! I'm also tempted to get the 16 inch since I'm hearing the 16 actually performs much better even though they have the same specs. I like the idea of having a nicer screen on the laptop in addition to my Mac Studio display. I have a 2020 M1 Mac 16gb Ram 2TB drive and I'm thinking of upgrading to a 14 or 16" MacBook Pro.
